Marimekko celebrates 60 years of its signature Unikko print

Marimekko will celebrate its 60th anniversary with its Unikko print, designed by Maija sola. They will be presenting their SS24 collection at the Copenhagen Fashion Week Design Museum on 9 August.

Marimekko also announced, in the spirit of celebrations, the opening of their new flagship store, located in Copenhagen, Denmark.  Marimekko is extending the concept of “open-for-all” to Copenhagen for the very first time, following the 30 year tradition of public inclusive shows in their home city, Helsinki.

Rebekka Bay, creative director at Marimekko stated, “The year 2024 will mark the 60th anniversary of the Unikko print by Maija Isola. Unikko is not only Marimekko’s most celebrated print but one of the most recognised print designs in the world. Unikko is a symbol of joy and creativity and over the years it has become synonymous with Marimekko’s design language.”

She further added, “Organising the fashion show in an open-for-all format and having the collection presented by members of our community truly emphasizes our mission to bring joy to the everyday lives of people.”
