DTG PowerStations Enable WebstaurantStore to Remove Motion Waste, Ensure Faster and More Accurate Shipping to Restaurant Customers

WILMINGTON, Mass.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–
DTG is the leading provider in industrial-strength energy systems and mobile workstations. Today, DTG announced that WebstaurantStore has deployed DTG mobilized Workbench PowerStations to its warehouses. The new workstations allow employees to easily power and move electronic devices throughout the warehouse. They also reduce motion waste, which can lead to lost productivity, inaccurate data gathering and less efficient operations.

WebstaurantStore is no different than many other distributors. Their warehouses cover thousands of square feet, making it difficult and inefficient to move around the site or perform important shipping operations. In a Lean/Six Sigma Analysis, it was estimated that 240 minutes per day (or $99) was wasted on unnecessary steps.

DTG Workbench PowerStations allow WebstaurantStore’s mobile workers to capture and process key information, as well as print shipping labels, directly from the laptops, barcode readers and printers that are contained within the rolling workstations. Further, since the PowerStations are fueled by DTG’s safe and ecofriendly Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) batteries, they can operate 24/7 with 100 percent uptime, and the swappable batteries reduce the need to revisit a recharging station within a shift.

“DTG Workbench PowerStations allow us to provide each associate with everything they may need during a shift,” said Mike Reigel, Shipping Manager, WebstaurantStore. “We were able to customize them to accommodate two computer screens and a pull-out tray for a computer mouse, space for a barcode scanner, a drawer for the printer, and other features to provide associates with everything they may need to do their jobs more effectively. The workstations are becoming a game changer in our warehouse.”

“Distributors today are facing new challenges – from workforce shortages and supply chain issues, to rising customer expectations,” said Steve Shaheen, CEO, and co-founder, DTG. “Innovative companies like WebstaurantStore understand that reducing motion waste and more effectively bringing productivity to the point of task not only makes shipping operations more efficient and accurate but it also improves the employee experience.”

The DTG Workbench PowerStation, a battery-powered, mobile workstation, is designed to improve operational efficiency in manufacturing, fulfillment and logistics facilities. The battery-powered rugged workstation is powered by the latest lithium-iron phosphate batteries (LFP), which are environmentally friendly and safe. The rugged workstation also includes an ergonomic lift that allows for precise height adjustments of the worktop; a large workspace to accommodate all equipment requirements; a modular construction allowing for increased power capacity; as well as the ability to endure the rigors in an industrial environment.
