Epson ColorWorks On-Demand Color Label Printer with 6-Axis Robot Delivers Print-and-Apply Label Application System |

IPSi Incorporates Epson ColorWorks for Industrial Robot for one-to-one automated color labeling system

LOS ALAMITOS, Calif., Nov. 17, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — As more businesses see the need to increase packaging and labeling speed, Epson today announced its reseller partner, Integrated Productivity Systems (IPSi), has created an automated print-and-apply labeling solution. Epson ColorWorks –® IPSi’s on-demand color-label printer and Epson VT6L 6-Axis bot, IPSi helps businesses improve efficiency and reduce costs by providing a flexible system that allows for high-quality color labels to be printed and applied next-label. You can watch the video here.

IPSi is a small-to-mid-sized distributor and manufacturer who does not have the resources or expertise to quickly design, develop, and implement process improvements in their business operations. They saw an opportunity to combine high-quality labels from the ColorWorks printer and an Epson 6-Axis robotic to bring automation and color to businesses. IPSi brought in JM Automation Services, a full service integrator and manufacturer custom-automated machinery to create a state of the art robotic print-and apply system that streamlines the process of packaging and labeling products.

“Businesses need to print high-quality color labels on demand – which is especially important for personalization, one-on-one marketing and serialization where every label needs to be different,” said Rick Schilling, president, IPSi. “The Epson ColorWorks Label Printer can be combined with an Epson 6-Axis Robot to enable us to tackle the most difficult applications of printing and applying color labels on all types containers.

The ColorWorks CW-6500P & CW-66000P offer on-demand, color labels ranging in width from 1- to 4 inches and 1- to 8 inches respectively. There is also a peel-and present option. Applicator I/O control port is standard on these industrial strength label printers. This allows for automated label application as well as integration with other automated systems. Combining the 6-Axis robot’s end-of arm tooling (EOAT), this combination offers unlimited possibilities for businesses to print and apply color labeling to flat containers, round containers, and everything else in between.

Businesses who find themselves in situations where they require a unique label for each container will benefit from an on-demand color label solution. Andy ScherzCommercial Labels Senior Product Manager, Epson America, Inc. “IPSi” created a unique solution to demonstrate the power of automation in full-color printing-and-apply marking for industrial manufacturing environments.

The Epson VT6L robot offers a complete-featured and easy-to-use robot with no compromises. The All-in-One design saves factory space and the SlimLine structure with a small wrist pitch allows for easy access to difficult-to-reach areas in tight spaces.

“Epson makes robotic automation simple for organizations that want operational simplicity and flexibility to meet changing requirements quickly,” said Scott MarsicEpson Robots’ group product manager.Epson AllThe versatile -in-One 6-axis robots can be used for a wide range of applications, including label application. They are capable of supporting pick and place, dispensing, and many other tasks. Epson robots can integrate quickly onto the warehouse floor and are easy to program and control, which helps alleviate some of the fear about automation.

The combination of a robot-and-print-and-apply printer with a robot solution simplifies the process of label application and printing, as well as simplifying inventory to meet demand. The combined solution reduces inventory waste by being cost-effective and efficient. This solution is already in use by IPSi customers.
